Getting your eyes lasered is a daunting undertaking for many not familiar with the process. This was one of the key aspects noted by those who still feel indecisive about whether or not they should take that step towards freedom from glasses. However, even those, who were already in the process of getting their eyes lasered, expressed many fears and doubts, meaning that personal would often find themselves bogged down reassuring patients before their surgery, despite needing to attend other tasks. In order to alleviate the team pressure, we decided to create a video which would go into depth, explaining the entire process- from start to finish //

Process
I was provided with a script that was based on the handout, which would usually be given to patients beforehand. Looking at the script, I would start by jotting down notes about how I would like to portray each section of the script- mainly whether it would be more efficient to film or utilize animation. I then started creating an initial storyboard and shot list with Milanote //
After convening with the team and getting my ideas approved, I would start informing the staff at the operation center, as well as asking whom would be available for more specific one on one shots. It was early on decided, that some scenes, such as the actual lasering would need to be simulated as opposed to be filmed in actuality. In part because we wanted the main protagonist to appear throughout, as to provide the viewer a steady point of reference, but also due to data protection laws. However, it was also really helpful to just follow the staff through one day of work and many of those shots would make for amazing B-Roll //
Results
The videos helped greatly in alleviating the workload of the staff and many patients would applaud the videos, as they were much easier and entertaining to follow. Based on the result, it was decided to create explainer on all types of services, that were offered by the center. Since the style at this point was already established and much of the footage was already taken by me, I was able to easily transfer this over and utilize this approach to many videos that would follow //
